White and Natural
白ほど、幅の広い色はないのではないでしょうか。赤、青、緑、黄色……。白のなかには、そのどの色もあるように思えます。そして、どの白を選ぶかで空間の密度を変えるような、力のある色です。穢れのない神聖なイメージがあり、日本らしい印象も感じます。一方、素は素材そのものの表情を表します。素木を「しらき」と読むなど、しろいことを意味する字でもあります。自然素材などの均一ではない質感や、微妙なゆらぎのある風合いに、私たちの心は掴まれる。だからこそ、素は組み合わせかたで、空間をプラスにもマイナスにも変えてしまうかもしれません。それぞれの素の個性を知ることがたいせつです。どこか日本的であり、どこか未来を感じさせる。そんな白と素について、考えてみました。
